The European Commission names wave energy as key technology for reaching EU targets.

The European Commission has officially named ocean energy as one of only two technologies that count toward the EU’s innovative renewables target, calling on member states to dedicate 5% of new renewable capacity to innovative technologies by 2030.

Ocean energy delivers predictable, complementary power to wind and solar, boosting grid stability, cutting emissions, and strengthening energy security.

With up to 100 GW of potential, 400,000 new jobs, and a European-made export industry on the horizon, it’s time to scale. The Commission is urging governments to introduce revenue support through proven mechanisms like CfDs, just as the UK has done with tidal power.

At CorPower Ocean, we’re ready. The pipeline is here. The technology is proven. Now it’s time for Ireland, Portugal, France, Spain, UK and Norway to seize the opportunity.
